Baseball/Softball Announce Weekend Schedule Changes

McKeesport, PA. – Due to a round of inclement weather scheduled to hit the area on Friday, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Baseball and Softball teams have announced schedule changes for this weekend’s games against Penn State Mont Alto. The changes push back the start of the series one day to avoid any wet weather that is moves through the area.

Friday’s series openers have been pushed back to Sunday April 7th with baseball playing a single game at 11 a.m. and softball playing a doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday’s doubleheaders will be played as scheduled with both teams starting game one at 2 p.m. and game two at around 4 p.m. This is a big series for both teams as they look to keep their Penn State University Athletic Conference playoff hopes alive.

For baseball, they are trying to bounce back after being swept in a three-game series against PSU-DuBois last weekend that dropped them to 3-3 in conference play. With only three teams from the division making the playoffs, these next to series are crucial for PSUGA as they try and make the tournament for the sixth time in the last 10 seasons. They have to win two of their next three series to clean up their path to the playoffs as the season comes down to it’s final three weeks.

For PSUGA Softball, they are fighting for their playoff lives after an 0-8 start to conference play. They are going to have to at least win the series in each of their final three series against Mont Alto, PSU-Beaver, and PSU-New Kensington to have a shot at making it back to the PSUAC Playoffs for the second year in a row.

Both  teams will be in action on Saturday for the start of their series against PSU-Mont Alto as both teams will be in doubleheader action. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the second game following at around 4 p.m.
