Baseball Stays Hot Sweeps PSU-Fayette 4-1 and 15-0

The Penn State Greater Allegheny baseball program extended thier winning streak to 6 games with a sweep of PSU-Fayette on Tuesday afternnon 4-1 and 15-0.

In game 1, Freshman Jeff Ziegler (West Mifflin) pitched five strong innings fanning five batters picking up his second victory of the season. Junior Ted Fricke (Carrick) retired the final six batter, five by strikeout, to pick up the save. Freshmen Zak Schmidt (Moon) and Scott Dierdorf (Hopewell) blasted solo home runs to pick up the 4-1 victory.

In game 2, Greater Allegheny struck early and often cruising to a 15-0 victory. Freshman Dan Laird (Steel Valley) went the distance throwing a one hit shutout while striking out 11. Fricke, Dierdorf, Freshman Adam Wehr (Northwestern), and Sophomore Matt Bradburn (Baldwin) each collected two hits in the victory.

Greater Allegheny improves to 15-8 overall and 7-1 in the PSUAC. The Lions will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to PSU-York, first pitch is 1:00 p.m.
