Baseball Extends Streak to Eight, Sweeps PSU-York

The Penn State Greater Allegheny Baseball program continued its impressive play of late extending its winning streak to eight games with a sweep of PSU-York 12-0 and 13-0.

In game 1, Freshman Tim Connelly (Woodland Hills) picked his third win of the season pitching a complete game shutout, while only giving up 3 hits. Sophomore Mike Visloski (West Allegheny) and Freshman Scott Dierdorf (Hopewell) added two hits. Sophomore Matt Bradburn aldo chipped in two hits including a double, while knocking in three runs.

In game 2, Junior Ted Fricke (Carrick) tossed a complete game shutout, fanning four batters. Freshman Zak Schmidt (Moon) collected three hits, and fellow classmate Kevin Quinn picked up two hits in the victory. Freshman Adam Wehr (Northwestern) also collected two hits, including a two run home run.

The Lions are now 17-8 overall and 9-1 in the PSUAC. Greater Allegheny will be back in action on Sunday when they will now play host to Penn College at Woodland Hills High School, first pitch is 12:00 p.m.
