Baseball Advances to PSUAC Championship with 1-0 Victory

Top-seeded Penn State Greater Allegheny advances to the PSUAC championship game, with a 1-0 over the #2 seeded Penn State Brandywine.

Greater Allegheny was only able to muster 2 hits, but they both contributed to the lone GA run. Sophomore outfielder Mike Visloski (West Allegheny) reached on an infield single in the 1st, when he beat out the throw from short. After Scott Dierdorf walked to push Visloski to second, Freshman first baseman Adam Wehr (Northwestern) came through with an RBI single to center field. That lone tally would stand up for Greater Allegheny, as Freshman starting pitcher Scott Dierdorf was stellar on the hill. Dierdorf went the distance for GA, striking out 9 Brandywine batters, and scattering 4 hits.

The only major threat to come from Penn State Brandywine would come in the top of the 1st, when they stranded runners on second and third. Dierdorf would get out of the jam, however, and would cruise through the remaining 6 innings.

Penn Greater Allegheny will play for the PSUAC conference crown tomorrow at 10:00 AM, against Penn State Brandywine.
