Washington, Pa- As has become the theme over the last two weeks, the Greater Allegheny baseball team used powerful offense and strong pitching to dominate its double-header opponents, this time beating Penn State Fayette 14-0 (5 inn.) and 10-0 (6 inn.).

  GA got the bats going early in game 1, when back-to-back singles from lead-off man- freshman outfielder Oliver Girman (Serra Catholic, PA)-  and number-two guy- junior outfielder Mike Visloksi (West Allegheny, PA)- led to a run off a Fayette throwing error.  Sophomore designated hitter Sam Weightman (Penn Trafford, PA) followed with a 2-run homer to left field- his third of the season- giving GA an early 3-0 lead.

  Greater Allegheny followed with four more runs in the second, capped off by back-to-back RBI singles from Weightman and sophomore first baseman Adam Wehr (Northwestern Lehigh, PA).  Two more runs in the third, plus five in fifth, pushed GA to its 14-0 margin and ended the game.

  Senior pitcher Jonathan Lutz (West Mifflin, PA) picked up the win and pitched 5 shutout innings.  Lutz (3-3) scattered 4 hits, walked just 1, and struck out 3.  Of Greater Allegheny's 17 hits, three individuals tallied 3: Oliver Girman went 3-4 with a run and 3 RBI's, Sam Weightman also went 3-4 with 3 RBI's, and freshman outfielder Zach Zeroski (West Allegheny, PA) went 3-3 with 3 runs and an RBI.   

  In game 2, it would take the Greater Allegheny bats a few innings to wake up, as they weren't on the board until the third.  Oliver Girman reached on a fielder's choice, and eventually scored the game's first run on a balk.  Wehr and Weightman continued to dismantle opposing pitchers, as Wehr's RBI triple and Weightman's RBI single- driving in Wehr-  gave GA a 3-0 lead.

  Wehr added to his daily RBI totals in the fourth, when his single up the middle scored Girman and freshman shortstop Tyler Thellman (Blackhawk, PA).  GA then pushed the score to 10-0 in the sixth, and a 1-2-3 bottom of the sixth ended the game.

  Freshman pitcher Eddie Emes (New Brighton, PA) picked up his fourth win of the season, pitching 5 innings of shutout ball.  Emes (4-1) surrendered just 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out a season-high 9 batters.  Adam Wehr led all GA hitters with 4 RBI's, going 3-4 with a double and a triple.  Junior catcher Josh Kubisz (Goose Creek, SC) also notched multiple RBI's, with 2, while going 1-3 at the plate.

  With their 8th straight victory, Greater Allegheny improves to 15-9 overall and 6-0 in the PSUAC.  Over the 8 game stretch, GA has outscored its opponents 106-1.  They will look to continue their hot streak this Friday, April 6 as they take on USCAA foe, Clark State CC at Pullman Park.  First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
