Baseball Sweeps Rival Brandywine, Extends Streak to 14

Butler, Pa- The Greater Allegheny baseball team continued its white-hot streak as they swept PSUAC rival, Penn State Brandywine.  GA won a closely contested game 1, 4-1, and then followed up with a 13-3 (5 inn.) thrashing in game 2.

  Freshman outfielder Zach Zeroski (West Allegheny, PA) led the GA bats in game 1, going 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI's.  Junior outfielder Mike Visloski (West Allegheny, PA) also went 2-3 with a double, and scored 2 runs.  Sophomore first baseman Adam Wehr (Northwestern Lehigh, PA) went 1-3 with a double.

  Senior pitcher Jonathan Lutz (West Mifflin, PA) pitched 6.1 innings and earned the win, giving up one run on 5 hits. Lutz (4-3) struck out 3 while walking 2.   Freshman Aaron McGee (Penn Trafford, PA) picked up his 2nd save, striking out the 2 batters he faced.

  Mike Visloski turned in his second strong performance at the plate in game 2, going 4-4 with a double.  Junior third baseman Jason Paris (Chartiers Valley, PA) went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI's, while sophomore designated hitter Sam Weightman (Penn Trafford, PA) went 3-4 with a double and RBI.

  Freshman pitcher Eddie Emes (New Brighton, PA) picked up the win, hurling all 5 innings on the mound for GA. Emes (5-1) gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, striking out 4 and walking 2.

  The sweep improves Greater Allegheny's record to 21-9 overall and 8-0 in the PSUAC. The 6th-ranked Lions return to the field this Friday, April 13 for a key conference double-header against 7th-ranked, Penn College.  First pitch of the away tilt is scheduled for 2 PM.
