Bats Awaken in Baseball's Double-Header Sweep of Wilkes-Barre

Pittsburgh, PA- Hot bats and fiery pitching warmed the scoreboard for the Greater Allegheny (10-9, 3-1 PSUAC) baseball team, as they swept Penn State Wilkes-Barre in a PSUAC twin bill.  GA scored four runs in the seventh to take an 11-2 win in game one, and then quickly imposed the 10-run mercy rule with a 10-0 (5 innings) win in game two.

Outfielders, freshman Alente Johnson (Rochester, PA/Rochester) and sophomore Oliver Girman (Monroeville, PA/Serra Catholic), each drilled six hits between the two games, with Girman tallying six RBI's.  Not to be outdone by his fellow outfielders, sophomore Zach Zeroski (Imperial, PA/West Allegheny) went 4-7 between the two games and drove in five runs.

Junior right-hander Evan James (Harrison City, PA/Western Oklahoma State) continued his strong work on the mound, surrendering two runs- one earned- over his six innings of four-hit work.  James (3-1) struck out 10 batters and walked four.

Freshman southpaw Zach Krivda (McKeesport, PA/McKeesport) improved to 3-0 following his complete game, shutout effort in game two.  Krivda allowed just three hits, stuck out two, and walked only one.

Greater Allegheny takes a quick break from PSUAC play with a three games this weekend against WVU Tech.  First pitch of the double-header Friday afternoon is set for 2:00 PM.
