Streak Reaches Eight  as Baseball Sweeps Mont Alto

Pittsburgh, Pa- Strong pitching performances and live bats lifted the Greater Allegheny (23-14, 14-2 PSUAC) baseball team to a comfortable, PSUAC sweep of Penn State Mont Alto.  GA took game one 11-1, before following it up with a 9-1 win in the second game.

Of Greater Allegheny's 13 total hits in the opener, four different players notched two hits: freshman outfielder Alente Johnson (Rochester, PA/Rochester), sophomore designated hitter Oliver Girman (Monroeville, PA/Serra Catholic), and junior third baseman Adam Wehr (Orefield, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) all went 2-3, while sophomore second baseman Aaron McGee (Harrison City, PA/Penn-Trafford) added a 2-4 effort. 

Girman and freshman first baseman Jose Bonilla (Coto Laurel, PR/Academia Santa Maria) drove in two runs apiece, with Wehr, senior catcher Josh Kubisz (Goose Creek, SC/Goose Creek) and freshman shortstop Tom Williams (Penn-Trafford, PA/Penn-Trafford) adding an RBI each.  Junior right-hander Evan James (Harrison City, PA/Western Oklahoma State) earned the win for GA, as he allowed just one run on two hits.  James (6-1) was wildly effective in his complete game victory, walking six and striking out eight.

Game two went quietly through the first inning, before the home Lions exploded for eight of their runs in the second frame.  Sophomore catcher Clay Groff (Pittsburgh, PA/Allderdice) paced Greater Allegheny with two hits, while senior Mike outfielder Mike Visloski (McDonald, PA/ West Allegheny) collected two RBI's.  Johnson, McGee, and Groff added the other three RBI's.

Sophomore right-hander Eddie Emes (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) started on the mound for Greater Allegheny, picking up the win.  Emes (4-2) allowed one run on just two hits over his four innings of duty.  He also struck out and walked five.  Junior right-hander Eric Schell (Linesville, PA/Linesville) finished the game with three perfect innings, including two strikeouts. 

Greater Allegheny wraps up their regular season, PSUAC slate tomorrow afternoon with a double-header against Penn State York.  First pitch of game one is set for 1 PM.
