Walk-Off Win Caps Senior Day, Aides in Clinching PSUAC Regular Season Title

Pittsburgh, Pa- On an afternoon which honored the four seniors, it was sophomore designated hitter Oliver Girman (Monroeville, PA/Serra Catholic) who delivered the day's biggest hit, as his two-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Greater Allegheny (25-14, 16-2 PSUAC) baseball team to a walk-off, 3-2 win over Penn State York in game one of the season's final PSUAC double-header.  A 6-1 win in game two completed the sweep, which, combined with Penn College's split with Penn State Brandywine, clinched the PSUAC regular season championship for GA.

Trailing 1-0 late into game one, the home Lions tied the game in the sixth when Girman singled home senior outfielder Mike Visloski (McDonald, PA/West Allegheny).  York regained the lead in the seventh, allowing for the heroics.  Senior second baseman Jason Paris (Houston, PA/Chartiers Houston) led off with a walk, and advanced to second following a two out walk to Visloski.  Girman then drilled the 1-1 pitch into deep left center, plating the game's winning run.

Sophomore right-hander Matt Klena (Glenshaw, PA/Shaler) was stellar at limiting York to just the two runs on five hits.  Klena (2-5) pitched all seven innings, walking one and striking out four.  Girman and Visloski collected two hits each, with the former driving in all three GA runs.  Senior catcher Josh Kubisz (Goose Creek, SC/Goose Creek) went 1-3 with a double.

Game two came much easier for Greater Allegheny, as they scored two runs each in innings two, three and four.  Leading 6-1, sophomore right-hander Aaron McGee (Harrison City, PA/Penn-Trafford) kept the York offense at bay, surrendering four hits over his five innings of work.  McGee (4-1) walked five and struck out three, while allowing just one, unearned run.  Paris and freshman outfielder Alente Johnson (Rochester, PA/Rochester) had two hits apiece, with Paris driving in two runs.  Visloski finished game two with a hit and an RBI, while sophomore Cole Quattrone (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth) went 1-1 with a run scored.

The PSUAC sweep pushes the Greater Allegheny win streak to 10 straight games, as they now turn their sight to the PSUAC Tournament.  As the number one seed, they will open competition Thursday, April 25.  Game time and opponent are TBA.
