Baseball's Magical Run Comes to an End Following Second Place Finish

Butler, Pa- The most successful season in program history came to an end late Thursday evening for the Greater Allegheny (35-17) baseball team, as they fell 6-3 to UC-Clermont in the second championship game of the USCAA Small College World Series.  After defeating top-seed The Apprentice School 9-3 earlier in the day, GA forced a winner-take-all game two with Clermont after defeating them 8-7 in an extra innings thriller.

Senior outfielder Mike Visloski (McDonald, PA/West Allegheny) homered in his final career game for Greater Allegheny, and was named to the All-Tournament Team.  Freshman outfielder Alente Johnson (Rochester, PA/Rochester) and sophomore outfielder Oliver Girman (Monroeville, PA/Serra Catholic) were also named to the All-Tournament Team, with Girman producing a 3-5 effort at the plate in the deciding game.

In defeating Clermont in game one, Head Coach Jim Chester registered his 200th career victory, while the second place finish stands as the pinnacle in program history.  The 52 games played set a new all-time record, while the 35 wins tied the mark.
