Greater Allegheny Baseball Dominates Miami-Hamilton, 11-1

Vero Beach, Fla. - Behind sophomore outfielder Jose Pablo Bonilla's (Coto Laurel, Puerto Rico / Academia Santa Maria) two triple's and five RBI's, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team went on to take a 11-1 triumph over Miami Hamilton, Sunday night.

The top of the first inning was a Miami-Hamilton shut-down, as senior pitcher Braedon Pennington (Punxsutawney, Pa./Mercyhurst) sat down the first four in the Miami-Hamilton lineup. Bonilla singled to center field as he welcomed 2 RBI's when Pennington and junior right-fielder Clay Groff (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) came home to score. Senior infielder Adam Wehr (Onefield, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) scored on a passed ball, as Greater Allegheny closed the first inning up 3-0.

The bottom of the fourth was an exciting one, as Bonilla took the walk but was able to advance to third on an error on Miami-Hamilton's pitcher. Junior pitcher Aaron McGee (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) hit a single to center field to bring Bonilla home, advancing GA 4-0. The Lions held Miami-Hamilton to zero in the top of the 5th, as GA marched on. With Pennington and Wehr on base, Bonilla slammed a triple, earning himself 2 RBI's as he brought his teammates home, 6-0. McGee followed up with a single to right field, bringing home Bonilla and tallying the 7th run of the game.

McGee took the mound in the 7th inning before Miami-Hamilton got on the board, 7-1. The bottom of that inning, Greater Allegheny found themselves on the upside of another swell. McGee singled and then reached second on an error, as he earned 2 RBI's. Bonilla advanced to third on McGee's hit, as Wehr and junior infielder Gianmarco Concepcion (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Mercyhurst North East) crossed home plate. Sophomore infielder Tommy Williams (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) singled to left field, earning himself a RBI as Bonilla scored to end the inning, GA up 10-1.

Another seam-splitting triple from Bonilla in the bottom of the 8th brought home sophomore infielder Jonathan Reyes Cartagena (San Juan, Puerto Rico/International Baseball Academy) obtained the final scoring tally for Greater Allegheny, 11-1.

Pennington saw six innings pitched, earning six strike-outs alongside only letting up four hits. McGee threw four strike-outs in three innings pitched to finish the pitching stats for Greater Allegheny. Bonilla went 3-for-3, earning three hits and five RBI's off of two triples.
