Greater Allegheny Baseball Suffers Their First Loss of the Season

Vero Beach, Fla. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny baseball team played a tough game with WVU Tech, Tuesday afternoon, as GA went on to take a hard fall 17-0 to draw their first loss of the season.

Sophomore infielder Tommy Williams (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) earned a double down the left field line in the bottom of the third inning. Both senior infielder Adam Wehr (Orefield, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) and senior outfielder Braedon Pennington (Punxsutawney, Pa./Mercyhurst) knocked down singles in the bottom of the fourth to try and lift the moral of the Lions. Senior infielder Sam Weightman (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) singled to right field moving the hit by pitch Williams to second.

Light was shown in the bottom of the 6th, as freshman outfielder Mark Hollis (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) slammed a triple to right field, unfortunately being the lone hit that inning for GA. Junior infielder Gianmarco Concepcion (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Mercyhurst North East) achieved the final hit on the day for Greater Allegheny, as he hit a single. Concepcion also managed a stolen base to contribute toward the Greater Allegheny deficit.

WVU Tech's quick swell proved just too much for Greater Allegheny to overcome, taking one on the chin to drop to 4-1 on the season.

Greater Allegheny will next play two games on Wednesday. At 10:00 a.m., GA will play Hagerstown CC on field one followed by a 4:00 p.m. first pitch against Briarcliffe (N.Y.) on field two. Both games will be seven inning contests!
