Late Runs Turn a 3-2 Greater Allegheny Baseball Loss over IUP

Washington, Pa. - Despite leading through four innings, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team allowed late inning runs, assisting in a Indiana University of Pennsylvania 3-2 takeover, Tuesday afternoon, at Consol Energy Park.

As sophomore left-handed pitcher Zach Krivda (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) allowed just one hit through three innings, Greater Allegheny managed to get on the board in the bottom of the inning. Junior infielder Aaron McGee (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) singled up the middle to get on base for the Lions. Sophomore outfielder Jose Pablo Bonilla (Coto Laurel, Puerto Rico/Academia Santa Maria) was next to grab the single, as McGee worked to get to third base. Bonilla stole second as senior designated hitter Sam Weightman (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) obtained a walk to load the bases. Senior outfielder/pitcher Braedon Pennington (Punxsutawney, Pa./Mercyhurst) slammed a single to right field, bringing home McGee before Bonilla got out at home plate to close the inning.

Junior right-handed pitcher Eddie Emes (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton) came in the next three innings to not allow one hit, keeping the score 1-0 to enter the seventh with a pitching change, Pennington from centerfield.

Indiana University's O'Neill achieved a single up the middle before Jones' hammered an in-the-park home-run off of the right centerfield wall, catapulting IUP over GA, 3-1. Greater Allegheny went into the bottom of the inning hopeful, as McGee doubled to left field. Bonilla singled to left field to bring home McGee, inching the score to 3-2.

Tight play through the remaining innings left the score at a standstill, Greater Allegheny in the passenger seat 3-2.
