Baseball Comes Up Short in Two Over Cincinnati-Clermont

Cincinnati, Ohio - Getting slighted in two games by a score of 3-2, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team went on to fall to Cincinnat-Clermont, Sunday afternoon.

Greater Allegheny was first on the board in the first contest, as GA crossed the plate in the top of the second inning. Cincinnati-Clermont tied it up in the bottom of the third before GA added another in the top of the 5th. CC managed to put up two more in the bottom of the seventh, boosting them up and over the visiting team, 3-2.

Sophomore designated hitter Victor Monroig (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Juan Quirindongo) went 1-for-2 through the first game, reigning in one run. Sophomore outfielder Jose Pablo Bonilla (Coto Laurel, Puerto Rico/Academia Santa Maria) was 1-for-3 at the plate, bringing home one run. Junior infielder Gianmarco Concepcion (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Mercyhurst North East) and sophomore infielder Tommy Williams (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) mirrored one another with 1-for-3 alongside one run batted-in.

Each team put up two runs apiece in the first inning to open the second meeting. Cincinnati-Clermont notched the final tally of the game in the bottom of the fourth, putting them ahead again 3-2. 

Both senior infielder Adam Wehr (Orefield, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) and junior infielder Aaron McGee (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) noted a run off of 1-for-2 at the plate. Wehr also nabbed two stolen bases through the seven innings. Concepcion earned an RBI alongside a hit on three at bats.

Greater Allegeny (8-7) will have a few days to rest and look to open Penn State University Athletic Conference action Friday, as Penn College comes to town. The double-header scheduled for a 2 p.m. first pitch will be played at Woodland Hills.
