Washington, Pa. - As sophomore infielder Victor Monroig (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Juan Quirindongo) capped off game one over PSUAC foe Penn College with a walk-off home run to take it 5-4, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team kept the visiting team scoreless to take their fourth consecutive conference victory in game two, 5-0.

The first inning recorded scoreless just before Penn College's Weil hit home run for PC to take the lead 1-0 in the top of the second. Both senior infielder Sam Weightman (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and freshman catcher Troy Ambros (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./West Browar) advanced bases on balls before sophomore infielder Bill Carter (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) came in to pinch run for Weightman. Freshman outfielder Mark Hollis (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) singled to center field before he advanced to second on the throw, swinging home Carter and putting Ambros in scoring position. Sophomore infielder Tommy Williams (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) batted in Ambros before junior outfielder Gianmarco Concepcion (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Mercyhurst North East) sent Hollis home, GA leading 3-1.

Penn College managed to propel themselves over Greater Allegheny as they added three tallies on the board in the top of the third, 4-3. Both teams played tight their next at bats, both exiting scoreless. Concepcion tripled down the right field line to bring home Williams in the bottom of the fourth, making the game even at four. Sophomore left-handed pitcher Zach Krivda (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) threw to strike-outs in the top of the next inning before junior right-handed pitcher Aaron McGee (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) came in to close the game. 

Both teams saw tight competition through the remainder of the stretch as the scheduled 7-inning game saw extra batters. Facing two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Monroig slams a home run to propel the Greater Allegheny Lions over Penn College, 5-4. 

Hollis managed to go 2-for-3 at the plate in the first game, adding a tally and an RBI. Concepcion went 2-for-4 alongside batting in two runs. McGee earned his first win on the mound as he struck-out four of the nine batters faced through three innings.

Senior right-handed pitcher Braedon Pennington (Punxsutawney, Pa./Mercyhurst) pitched the second game for Penn State Greater Allegheny. He struck out four batters through three innings before Greater Allegheny got on the board. McGee walked to first base. Concepcion singled to right field but was able to advance to second on the throw when McGee bolted for third. Each of them advanced on a wild pitch, McGee dropping a tally. When sophomore outfielder Jose Pablo Bonilla (Coto Laurel, Puerto Rico/Academia Santa Maria) homered, he also reigned in Concepcion, Greater Allegheny ahead 3-0. 

Ambros singled up the middle but had freshman infielder Brian Casiano (San Juan, Puerto Rico/International Baseball Academy) come in to pinch run to start the fourth inning. Hollis came in and singled to left center, advancing the runner. McGee was next to single up the middle as Casiano moved two bases to cross home plate, GA 4-0. Concepcion added the final tally for Greater Allegheny in the bottom of the fifth to finish the scoring summary for the home team.

Pennington allowed just four hits through seven scoreless rounds pitching for the Lions, earning his second win on the season. McGee went 1-for-1 at the plate, adding one run and batting in another. Bonilla went 1-for-3 with one run and 2 RBI's.

Now with four straight conference wins under their belt, the Penn State Greater Allegheny baseball team travels to Garrett for a non-conference battle on Wednesday. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m.
