McKeesport, Pa. - While the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team took four huge conference wins in the past few days, three of the GA Lions were honored with weekly distinction made by not only the Penn State University Athletic Conference, but also the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
The PSUAC awards came out first, noting a Greater Allegheny sweep. Junior infielder Gianmarco Concepcion (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Mercyhurst North East) was awarded with the Student-Athlete of the Week accolade for baseball as a hitter. In game one over Wilkes-Barre, Gianmarco went 3-for-4 at the plate while crossing home twice alongside sending three more across the bag. Through the second meeting on the brutally windy day, Concepcion went 1-for-3, capitalizing on one run and sending two RBI's. In two games on Sunday, Concepcion hit .571 (4-for-7), as he slammed a triple alongside bringing in five RBI's. The junior also walked once and scored three runs to boost the efforts of his team.
The PSUAC Student-Athlete of the Week for baseball as pitcher was awarded to junior right-hander Eddie Emes (New Brighton, Pa./New Brighton). In Emes' lone start over Penn State Wilkes-Barre, he tossed five shutout innings allowing just three hits next to his four strike-outs. He staved the way to keep a scoreless game as the GA offense brought home 13 runs to give Greater Allegheny their first conference win on the season.

The USCAA distinction came to senior right-handed pitcher Braedon Pennington (Punxsutawney, Pa./Mercyhurst), as he was awarded with the USCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Pennington played in game two of the steep Penn College match-up. GA narrowly took Penn College in game one by a score of 5-4. Pennington came to the mound, allowing just four hits to complete a 5-0 shut-out over Penn College in game two. In seven innings of work, he struck out seven batters, while allowing just the four hits, and walking two. He helped himself at the plate as he had one RBI on the day.
