GA Baseball's Strong Pitching Blanks Mont Alto 5-0, 10-0

Mont Alto, Pa. - As senior right-handed pitcher Braedon Pennington (Punxsutawney, Pa./Mercyhurst) and sophomore left-handed pitcher led the way on the mound, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team silenced Penn State University Athletic Conference foe, Penn State Mont Alto, 5-0 & 10-0.

Greater Allegheny got on the board in the top of the fourth when freshman infielder Brian Casiano (San Juan, Puerto Rico/International Baseball Academy) homered to left field. Sophomore infielder Tommy Williams (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) doubled in the fourth, bringing freshman outfielder Mark Hollis (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and sophomore pinch runner Bill Carter (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport), who was in for junior catcher Troy Ambros (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./West Browar), GA 3-0.

Sophomore outfielder Jose Pablo Bonilla (Coto Laurel, Puerto Rico/Academia Santa Maria) singled, batting in senior infielder Adam Wehr (Orefield, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh). Freshman designated hitter Francisco Del Rio (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) sacrificed flied to left field, tallying the final mark for GA as junior infielder Aaron McGee (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) gets on the board.

Pennington threw all seven innings in game one, allowing just four hits and sending nine batters out on strike-outs. Casiano went 2-for-3, gaining one run and an RBI. 

The top of the first inning of game two was huge for Greater Allegheny. Mont Alto found themselves in a bases-loaded, one out pinch. Ambros earned the third walk of the contest, bringing in Casiano. Junior infielder Gianmarco Concepcion (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Mercyhurst North East) singled, advancing to second on the throw, sending both Bonilla and McGee across home plate. Pennington was up to bat as he hammered a double, pushing Concepcion and Carter to score, 5-0.

The second inning saw more action from Greater Allegheny, as Ambros singled in a bases-loaded situation, scoring Casiano. Concepcion hit a sacrafice fly to left field, adding Bonilla on the board. Wehr was able to take home on a wild pitch, pushing Greater Allegheny onward 8-0.

Williams advanced on a single before he moved to third on both an error and a sacraficed bunt by Casiano in the third inning. McGee doubled to send home Williams before Wehr doubled to send him to score as well, Greater Allegheny propelling ahead 10-0.

Krivda pitched five innings, giving up only one hit. The lefty sat down eight batters on strike-outs. McGee went 2-for-2, posting two runs and two runs batted in. Pennington hit 1-for-2 on the day, moving two batters home.

Penn State Greater Allegheny, who is now 15-7, 6-0 PSUAC, looks to play at Consol Energy Park on Wednesday against California (Pa.) in a nine inning match-up. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Live-stats will be available. Click here!
