Washington, Pa. - After dropping four runs in the top of the first inning, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team gets the short-end of the stick in a non-conference match-up over Div. II California (Pa.), Wednesday afternoon at Consol Energy Park, 9-8.

As freshman infielder Brian Casiano (San Juan, Puerto Rico/International Baseball Academy) walked and junior infielder Aaron McGee (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) singled to right center, senior infielder Adam Wehr (Orefield, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) homered to left field, posting a three-run homer to lead California. Junior outfielder Gianmarco Concepcion (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Mercyhurst North East) got to second base on errors, sending sophomore outfielder Jose Pablo Bonilla (Coto Laurel, Puerto Rico/Academia Santa Maria) home, advancing their lead, 4-0.

California managed one run in the bottom of the first before they tacked on three more in the bottom of the second. Greater Allegheny's Wehr hammered another homer to left field as the first batter up in the top of the third added another tally, GA back on the upside 5-4. California grabbed two more runs in the bottom of the inning, propelling the home team over GA 6-5.

The fourth inning went scoreless for both teams before Bonilla's single down the left field line brought home McGee, tying the game at six. California answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth before Greater Allegheny matched those two in the top of the seventh. Concepcion's single up the middle drove home McGee for another tally. Junior catcher Troy Ambros (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./West Browar) singled to center field, pushing Wehr across home plate, evening the game at eight.

Four scoreless outings were ending in the bottom of the ninth inning, as California managed to get a run on the board, taking Greater Allegheny to a 9-8 stiff.

Wehr went 3-for-5 on the day, adding three runs and four RBI's for Greater Allegheny. McGee also went 3-for-5 at the plate, adding three runs himself. Concepcion went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI. McGee takes his second loss on the hill, as the junior allowed one hit through one inning of play.

Greater Allegheny (15-8, 6-0) shakes off the tough loss and looks forward to a Penn State University Athletic Conference weekend. On Saturday, Penn State Brandywine travels to Woodland Hills High School for a double-header; first pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. Sunday brings Penn State Schyulkill to Woodland Hills for another double-header. First pitch is again set for 12 p.m.
