Greater Allegheny Baseball Closes Season Against Cincinnati-Clermont

Jacksonville, Ill. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team closed their 2013-2014 season, Wednesday afternoon, as Cincinnati-Clermont defeated GA, 2-0, in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series.

In a rematch of the 2013 USCAA Small College World Series National Championship, the game began through the first two and a half innings of play. In the bottom of the third, Cincinnati-Clermont managed to notch the two lone tallies on the day, putting Greater Allegheny in a 2-0 hole. 

The next three and a half innings also saw no score, leaving the game in the hands of Cincinnati-Clermont, as they advance to the eliminaton game after their 2-0 sweep of Greater Allegheny. 

Senior right-handed pitcher Braedon Pennington (Punxsutawney, Pa./Mercyhurst) pitched to 23 batters through six innings, hammering 63 strikes on 93 pitches. Sophomore outfielder Jose Pablo Bonilla (Coto Laurel, Puerto Rico/Academia Santa Maria) went 2-for-2 at the plate as freshman infielder Brian Casiano (San Juan, Puerto Rico/International Baseball Academy) went 2-for-3.

Greater Allegheny caps off their season with 32 wins, 12 losses alongside going 20-0 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. They played in 46 in 67 games, scoring 310 runs. Greater Allegheny was not only the PSUAC League Champion but also the PSUAC Tournament Champion.
