Vero Beach, Fla. - Late runs through a back-and-forth competition contributed to a 8-7 Rochester triumph, as the Penn State Greater Allegheny baseball team notched their first loss of the 2014-15 season.

Rochester managed to post not only a run in the first inning but a pair of tallies in the bottom of the second inning, putting GA down 3-0.

The top of the third saw a surge from the Greater Allegheny offense. Junior second baseman John Nusser (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brashear) doubled to get on base before senior short stop Aaron McGee (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) was hit by pitch. Senior catcher Troy Ambros (Pembroke Pines, Fla./West Broward) and senior center fielder Gianmarco Concepcion (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Mercyhurst North East) both singled alongside batting a run apiece across home plate. Senior outfielder Matt Klena went on to homer to bring in both Ambros and Concepcion, catapulting Greater Allegheny ahead of Rochester, 5-3.

Rochester tallied two more before GA came back out in the top of the fifth. Concepcion and Klena singled before Concepcion added another run for the blue and white, the two teams sitting at a 6-5 GA lead.

Junior third baseman Clay Groff (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) tripled before Ambros singled to bring Clay across home plate, sitting the two teams with Greater Allegheny in the drivers seat, 7-5.

Rochester dropped two in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at seven before Rochester's Dupuis posted the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning, upending Greater Allegheny, 8-7.

Both Ambros and McGee went 2-for-3 as each of them marked a run. Klena went 2-for-4 from the plate as he batted in three runs alongside dropping one himself.

Greater Allegheny (3-1) looks forward to a nine-inning game, Tuesday afternoon, against Miami-Hamilton University.
