Vero Beach, Fla. - In the third game of the spring break trip, the Penn State Greater Allegheny baseball team posted a 8-6 win over Parkland College in a seven-inning bout.

The first inning went silent on both sides as Parkland College tallied an unearned run in the bottom of the second, PC up 1-0.

Greater Allegheny managed to even the score at one in the bottom of the 4th inning. As senior third baseman Troy Ambros (Pembroke Pines, Fla./West Broward) was hit-by-pitch to get onto first base, he continued to advance as he cruised past home plate, 1-1.

A huge fifth inning for Greater Allegheny put them way ahead of Parkland College. Sophomore left fielder Mark Hollis (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) opened up the inning with a single. Junior second baseman John Nusser (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brashear) also singled, filling the first two bases. Junior right-fielder Clay Groff (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) was hit-by-pitch to fill the bases before senior short stop Aaron McGee (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford) singled to bat in Hollis, advancing GA up and over Parkland College, 2-1.

Ambros then singled to bat in Nusser as senior center-fielder Gianmarco Concepcion (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Mercyhurst North East) was walked to first, pushing Groff to score. Senior right-handed pitcher Matt Klena (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler Area) grounded out before he pushed McGee to score. Sophomore first baseman Joshua Arroyo (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico/Levittown Baptist Academy) doubled to bring in Ambros as sophomore catcher Francisco Del Rio (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) sacrifice flied out to right-field, moving Concepcion to score. Hollis reached first base on an error, batting in Arroyo and ending this massive scoring drive with seven Greater Allegheny scores. GA now led Parkland College, 8-1.

With a Parkland triple in the bottom of the fifth brought home three runners, slicing the GA lead to 8-4.

GA sat down one-two-three before Parkland came back to hit in the bottom of the sixth. Another Warren triple from PC hammered in two runs, pushing pressure on Greater Allegheny, 8-6.

Five of the next six batters in the seventh inning sat down on strike-outs, ending the slugfest at a 8-6 Greater Allegheny advantage. 

Greater Allegheny has now notched their third straight win of the season, with six hits through the seven innings. 

Klena saw 22 batters as he threw a little over four innings, earning his first win on the mound. As McGee finished out the game on the mound, he went 2-for-5 in the batters box, scoring once and batting in a batter. Ambros went 1-for-3, putting two on the board himself and pushing another to score. 

Greater Allegheny (3-0) will go up against familiar foe Rochester College, Tuesday, for a nine-inning match-up.
