DuBois Erupts in Fourth Inning to End GA Baseball Season, 7-3

DuBois, Pa. - A back-and-forth Penn State University Athletic Conference contest resulted in a huge fourth inning overturn for Penn State DuBois to overcome the Penn State Greater Allegheny baseball team, 7-3.

Junior second baseman Adam Jacko (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny), junior outfielder Mark Hollis (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and sophomore designated hitter Luke Padezan (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) all walked to base in the first two innings while junior catcher Francisco Del Rio (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) singled to right field.

DuBois notched a run in the bottom of the first to put Greater Allegheny down, 1-0.

Jacko, junior short stop Brandon Koglin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and freshman third baseman Dylan Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) walked to fill the bases in the third inning before Del Rio singled to bat home Koglin to tie the game at one.

Greater Allegheny led the game in the top of the fourth as freshman first baseman Jordan Graziano (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) walked to get on base. Freshman center-fielder Marcos Lopez (Gurabo, Puerto Rico/Ramey High) doubled to bat home Graziano, 2-1 GA.

DuBois managed to note six runs in the bottom of the inning, lifting the home team over Greater Allegheny, 7-2.

Del Rio and Hollis both singled in the seventh inning to get on base as Graziano, Lopez and sophomore outfielder Sam Ligeros (Munhall, Pa./Steel Valley) walked to get on base, scoring Hollis, 7-3 DuBois.

Del Rio hit 3-of-4 with one run batted in while four others connected to get on base.

Padezan faced 14 batters through 2.2 innings while sophomore right-handed pitcher Dan Daly (Glassport, Pa./South Allegheny) pitched two innings, facing nine. 

Greater Allegheny wraps up their 2015-16 season with an overall record of 10-22, 8-12 PSUAC. 

Padezan currently holds down fifth in the PSUAC for total strike-outs with 31.

Koglin finished the season with 23 runs on 31 hits with an overall batting average of .408. Del Rio finished the season with a batting average of .390 with 39 hits, ten runs, 24 RBIs, two homeruns and eight doubles. Hollis posted 16 runs on 37 hits for an overall .381. The junior brought in 17 runs with four doubles.
