Four Greater Allegheny Baseball Players Honored with PSUAC All-Conference

State College, Pa. - With their hard-work and dedication through the 2015-16 season, four Penn State Greater Allegheny baseball players were honored by the Penn State University Athletic Conference in the 2016 PSUAC Baseball Awards.

Junior catcher Francisco Del Rio (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) was named to the First-Team All-Conference list, after his third year behind the dish for the blue-and-white. Named PSUAC Hitter of the Week April 26th, Francisco appeared in 30 games for GA, going to the plate 100 times. Del Rio connected 39 times for ten runs, eight doubles, two homeruns, three stolen bases and 24 runs batted in for an overall batting average of .390. In the field, Francisco collected 137 putouts with 15 assists for a fielding percentage of .968.

Junior second baseman Adam Jacko (North Versailles, Pa./ East Allegheny) has been named to the Second-Team All-Conference list, after his work at second for the second-straight season. The righty appeared in 31 games for 97 at bats for the Lions. Jacko noted 25 runs off 32 hits with six doubles, 16 runs batted in and 12 stolen bases for an overall batting average of .333. 

The second baseman played in 31 games, taking part in 54 putouts with 52 assists for a fielding percentage of .930.

In his first year with Greater Allegheny, freshman outfielder/third baseman Dylan Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) has been named to the PSUAC Honorable Mention list. Playing in 29 games for Greater Allegheny, Finocchi came up to the plate 98 times for a total of 24 runs on 32 hits. Dylan nabbed six doubles, two triples and a homer with 15 runs batted in and 13 stolen bases. The righty ended his first season with the Lions with a batting percentage of .327.

In the field, Finocchi assisted the Greater Allegheny defense with 27 putouts and 23 assists.

The final awardee is also the only pitcher for Greater Allegheny; sophomore right-handed pitcher Luke Padezan (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) has been named to the Honorable Mention list alongside Finocchi. Padezan pitched in nine games for Greater Allegheny, competing for 44.2 innings. The righty threw one complete game, sitting down 31 total on strike-outs, averaging 6.25 per outing.

Padezan also competed at the plate, as the second-year Lion went to the plate 59 times through 28 games. Luke scored 13 runs off of 22 hits, pushing seven to score. Padezan ended the year with an .373 batting average.
