Lion Baseball Squander Final Day at UC-Clermont, 14-1

Cincinnati, Ohio - In the final day of a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) weekend, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team fell to UC-Clermont, Sunday afternoon, by a margin of 14-1.

Clermont managed to escalate their score to 8-0 over two innings of action before the Lions got on the board in the top of the fourth.

With a sophomore designated hitter Zach Craven (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) single, senior catcher Francisco Del Rio (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) scored the lone GA run of the day.

Three runs in the fifth, one in the seventh and two in the eighth resulted in a 14-1 overthrow of Greater Allegheny.

Junior right-handed pitcher Daniel Daly (Glassport, Pa./South Allegheny) spent seven innings on the mound, sitting three of his 38 batters faced down on strike-out. Freshman right-handed pitcher Matt Smith (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) came in to close the final inning of action, facing six batters.

Freshman outfielder Blake Flocker (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) went 2-of-3 as sophomore shortstop Dylan Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) went 2-of-5.

Greater Allegheny (2-6) looks to open Penn State University Athletic Conference action, Saturday March 25th at Woodland Hills High School in Pittsburgh.
