Pittsburgh, Pa. - Despite a nail-biting two-run top eight, the Penn State Greater Allegheny men's baseball team overcame Penn State Beaver, Saturday afternoon, in a Penn State University Athletic Conference 5-4 triumph.

Greater Allegheny was first on the board in the bottom of the first. Sophomore third baseman Dylan Finocchi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) grounded out to the shortstop to bat home junior shortstop Zachary Pollack (Cecil, Pa./Canon-McMillan), 1-0 GA.

Beaver tied up the game in the top of the fifth before GA brought the bats in the bottom of the inning.

Freshman outfielder Blake Flocker (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) singled to bat home freshman catcher Brian Koglin (Indiana, Pa./Fox Chapel). Junior second baseman Adam Jacko (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) doubled to bat home both Pollack and Flocker, 4-1 GA.

Finocchi reached first on an error by the shortstop to push Jacko to score, 5-1 Lions.

One run in the top of the seventh and two in the eighth made the Lions sit on the edge of their seat, finally taking the win 5-4.

Junior right-handed pitcher Luke Padezan (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) threw the complete nine-inning game, sitting down three of his 42 batters down on strike-out.

Pollack went 2-for-4 with two runs while Flocker went 2-of-3 with one run and one RBI. Jacko hit 2-of-4 with two runs batted in and one run while Koglin and junior first baseman Joshua Arroyo (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico/Levittown Baptist Academy) both notched a hit through the contest.

Greater Allegheny (8-14, 6-6 PSUAC) looks forward to their final contest of the season, as the Lions travel to Bethany, West Virginia for a non-conference match-up. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
