Daly Honored as PSUAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week

McKeesport, PA. – The Penn State University Athletic Conference Released their weekly awards on Tuesday and Penn State Greater Allegheny Pitcher Daniel Daly (Glassport, Pa./South Allegheny) was named this week’s Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Daly has been on fire on the mound as of late and that carried over into his start against PSU-Mont Alto.

Daly pitched the second game of a doubleheader against Mont Alto on April 6th and went the complete game, seven innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits while walking one and striking out four. He picked up his third win of the season and now sits at 3-1 with a 4.68 ERA in 25 innings of work.

Over his last two starts, Daly has gone 2-0 with a 1.28 Era giving up just two earned runs over 14 innings of work. His 3-1 start to the season is the best start he has had in his PSUGA career. After going 2-6 a year ago and 0-5 the year before that, Daly has come into his own and been one of the most dominant pitchers on the staff so far in the 2018 season.

Daly is currently tied for second in the PSUAC in wins this season and is fourth in strikeouts with 26. Daly has allowed four runs or less in three of his four starts this season with the only blemish coming against Mercyhurst where he lasted just five innings and gave up eight earned runs. Daly has been the leader for this pitching staff and is looking to propel them to the playoffs where they will go for their fifth PSUAC Championship in the last eight seasons.

Daly and the rest of the PSUGA Baseball team kick off a three-game series with PSU-Beaver starting on Friday and going into Saturday. It starts with a single game at Beaver on Friday at 3 p.m. and ends with a doubleheader on Saturday at Woodland Hills high school starting at 2 p.m.
