Kenny Creehan Named Next PSUGA Baseball Coach

McKeesport, PA. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny athletic department announced on Friday that Kenny Creehan will be their next head baseball coach for the 2018-2019 season. Creehan brings over 30 years of coaching and playing experience to PSUGA and is excited to work with the returners from last year as well as work on bringing in some new recruits for the spring semester.

“The first thing I can’t wait to do is work with all of the wonderful people I have met thus far at the university,” said Creehan. “There are so many people that are excited to make PSUGA a fantastic place to grow. The administration is full of passion and our Director of Athletics Korie Morton-Rozier is eager to win which makes me want to be part of something special.”

To go along with his head coaching job at PSUGA, Creehan is also a head baseball coach at Team All-American which is a top AAU Program in Pittsburgh. During his tenure his teams have won over 400 games, been in 50 championship events, and have made it to two National Championship events.

Creehan has also seen a lot of success in his many years of experience working at the collegiate level. He started his career in 1989 with Allegheny College where his team made it to the NCAA Division III Regionals. He then took his talents to The Citadel the following season where he led his team to the Division I College World Series in Omaha becoming the first ever military academy to make it to the DI College World Series.

After a short one-year stint at the Virginia Military Institute, Creehan would make a name for himself at Lincoln Memorial College where he spent four seasons as a head coach. Over that time span, his school broke over 60 program records while winning over 100 games. His collegiate coaching career came full circle when he went back to Allegheny College to serve as an assistant coach for several years.

Creehan is ready to bring his wealth of knowledge about the game of baseball to PSUGA in an effort to help this year’s team succeed. He is excited to work with the returners and to help bring in the next generation of PSUGA baseball players.

“I am very excited to get going here at PSUGA and get the ball rolling with all the returning players and getting our system in place,” said Creehan. “The plan is already put in motion for recruiting and the outpouring of high school players calling us asking if they can come play here has been fabulous already.”

It is still quite a while before Creehan and his team will take the field for the first time in 2019, but excitement is in the air as he and the PSUGA baseball team will look to build off of last year’s playoff run and compete for a Penn State University Athletic Conference Championship.
