Myrtle Beach, SC. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny Baseball Team (3-2, 0-0) fell short for the second straight night to Henry Ford College 10-2. After battling through the first three and a half innings of the game, PSUGA gave up the lead and were never able to get it back falling for the second straight day.
PSUGA got out to a lead in the top of the second. With two outs in the inning Blake Flocker (McKeesport, PA./McKeesport HS) picked up a single followed by back-to-back walks to load the bases. Jordan Williams (McKeesport, PA./McKeesport HS) picked up his team leading eighth RBI drawing a bases loaded walk to put PSUGA ahead 1-0.
Henry Ford would score two in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead and PSUGA would try to respond. After a walk and a single put runners on first and second with one out in the top of the fourth. PSUGA would then take advantage of back-to-back Henry Ford errors as Marcos Lopez (Caglas, Puerto Rico/Ramey HS) rushed home to tie the game at 2-2.
Henry Ford would answer back once again in the bottom of the fourth putting up three runs and jumping out to a 5-2 lead. PSUGA just couldn't get anything going offensively after that and a five spot in the bottom of the sixth by Henry Ford was enough to put the nail in the conference as PSUGA fell 10-2.
Bert Hinton (Richmond, VA./Benedictine College Prep) made his first start of the season going 4.0 innings giving up five runs, two earned, on five hits while walking one and striking out five. It was his second appearance of the season and he kept his team in the game throughout the night and has more to look forward to this season.
PSUGA now falls to 3-2 on the season taking their second consecutive loss. The offense was held to just six hits on the night and hurt themselves committing five errors in the game. Head coach Kenny Creehan and his team will look to work things out as they move forward this season.
PSUGA Baseball is back in action on Thursday when they take on Ancilla College at 10 a.m.
