Season Comes to an End for GA Baseball

Saturday, May 1 saw the end of the 2020/21 season for Greater Allegheny Baseball.

GA dropped a 4-1 decision against Penn State DuBois in the first round of the PSUAC Playoffs played at Penn State Mont Alto.

Greater Allegheny jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after a Brian Koglin (Fox Chapel, PA/ Fox Chapel HS) double and subsequent error after Brian Woods (North Huntingdon, PA/ Norwin HS) reached first.

Things were short lived.

DuBois scored 3 in the bottom of the first, two coming off of a Toner Corl home run. DuBois added their 4th and final run in the bottom of the second on a called balk allowing Cory Lehman to score.

Nathan Grice (Mckeesport, PA/ Mckeesport HS) went 5 2/3 innings for GA, striking out 6. Brandon Orsich went the distance for DuBois striking out 7.

 

GA finishes the season with 25 games played, 179 runs scored, .318 batting average, .407 on-base percentage, .425 slugging percentage, and 6 home runs offensively.

The Greater Allegheny pitchers stuck out 147 batters, had a 4.78 ERA, and went 173 1/3 innings on the season.
