PSUAC Playoff Field is Set for Men’s Basketball

McKeesport, Pa. – With the Penn State Greater Allegheny Men’s Basketball Team clinching the number one seed in the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs Monday, the field is set for the road to the PSUAC Championship. The top six teams from the conference will battle it out for a chance to earn the conference title in a bracket format all leading up to the championship game which will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday February 18th at Penn State Brandywine.

With PSUGA picking up the win over PSU-Fayette on Monday 78-73, they have clinched the #1 seed. The other five seeds include #2 PSU-Brandywine, #3 PSU-York, #4 PSU-Wilkes Barre, #5 PSU-Lehigh Valley, and #6 PSU-Hazleton. PSUGA and PSU-Brandywine will each get a first-round bye and will await their opponent in the semi-final round on Saturday February 17th.

The other four seeds will battle it out on Wednesday night in the PSUAC Quarterfinal round to earn a trip to the final four. #3 PSU-York will host #6 PSU-Hazleton and #4 PSU-Wilkes Barre will host #5 PSU-Lehigh Valley. The winners of those two games will move on to the final four where PSUGA will play the winner of the PSU-Wilkes Barre vs. PSU-Lehigh Valley Game at 3 p.m., and PSU-Brandywine will take-on the winner of #3 PSU-York and #6 PSU-Hazleton.

PSU-Wilkes Barre defeated PSU-Lehigh Valley earlier this season 74-69 at Lehigh Valley. The game was close through the first half; however, a 50-point second half gave Wilkes-Barre the advantage and the eventual win. PSU-York and PSU-Hazleton last met on November 17th in a back and forth game that went all the way to overtime before PSU-York would pull out the 81-74 win.

For PSUGA, this is the first time in program history that they have been named the number one seed in the PSUAC. They are currently riding an eight-game winning streak into the playoffs and will have some time to rest and recover before finding out who their opponent will be on Wednesday night.
