PSUGA Enters Second Straight USCAA Tournament as #6 Seed

McKeesport, Pa. – After falling in the semifinal round of the Penn State University Athletic Conference Playoffs last week, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Men’s Basketball Team (19-7, 13-3) will have a chance to extend their season in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Tournament. It is the second straight year that PSUGA will make the national tournament entering as the #6 seed.

PSUGA entered the national tournament a year ago as the #4 seed after winning the PSUAC Championship. They picked up their first win in a national tournament game when they defeated Southern Maine CC 81-51, before losing in the semifinal round to Berkley-NYC 74-60.

The 2017/2018 season has already been full of historical moments and PSUGA will look to make one more memory as they try to capture their first ever National Championship. However, they will have to face off against 10 other teams from across the country as the bids were announced earlier today. The other 10 teams include the following:

#1 Berkley College

#2 Central Penn

#3 Villa Maria

#4 NHTI

#5 PSU-Brandywine

#6 PSU-Greater Allegheny

#7 Warren Wilson

#8 PSU-Wilkes Barre

#9 Vermont Tech

#10 PSU-Fayette

Tournament play will start on February 28th when #8 PSU-Wilkes Barre battles #9 Vermont Tech and #7 Warren Wilson takes on #10 PSU-Fayette. Then, every team will take the court on Thursday March 1st for the USCAA Quarterfinal round where PSUGA will take on #3 Villa Maria. It will be the first time in school history that Villa Maria and PSUGA will square off.

PSUGA has beaten some of the best teams in all of the PSUAC and now will have a chance to show off their skills on the national level. USCAA National Tournament Week starts on Tuesday February 27th and concludes with the USCAA Championship game on Saturday March 3rd.
