The Penn State Greater Allegheny Men's Basketball Team (10-5, 7-4) couldn't get anything going on offense as they fell to Penn State York 85-50 on Friday. They finished with two players in double digits and couldn't capture the offensive maguc they had seen over their previous six games.

After scoring the first four points of the game, York rattled off 9 unanswered points to take a 9-4 lead four minutes into the game. PSUGA would retake the lead momebts later but it was another 9-0 run that put York ahead 20-14 halfway through the half.

That is a lead they would never give up for the rest of the game as the defense held PSUGA to just 11 points the rest of the half and PSUGA headed into the locker room down 40-25. It was the first time in 2019 that PSUGA was down at halftime as the offense tried to find a way to start clicking.

PSUGA would battle to get the score back to 47-33 before York put the nail in the coffin with an 11-0 run that moved the score to 58-33 with 12 minutes left on the clock. PSUGA would get outscored 24-13 over the final 12 minutes before falling 82-50.

Payne led the way finishing with 14 points while Mhonte Newsome (Baltimore, MD./Our Lady of Mt. Saint Carmel) added 12 points and 7 rebounds. Antonio Hill (West Mifflin, PA./West Mifflin HS) led the way defensively with 7 rebounds on the day.

The loss dropped PSUGA to 7-4 in conference play and fell for the first time in 2019. The loss moves PSUGA down to third place in the division as they fight for a PSUAC Playoff spot.

PSUGA is back in action on Tuesday when they take on PSU-DuBois as part of a doubleheader at 8 p.m.
