PSUGA Men Rank 11 in Week 2 USCAA Poll

McKeesport, PA. - The United States Collegiate Athletic Association released their weekly top 20 Poll and the Penn State Greater Allegheny Men's Basketball team ranked #11 in the country. They have gone through a slight slump over the last couple weeks knocking them out of the top 10, but they still maintain their spot as one of the top teams in the nation.

PSUGA's offense kicked the season off with a bang scoring 120 and 121 points respectively in their season opening games. However, since then they haven't been able to put up more than 85 points and have gone 2-3 over the stretch of five games.

Jordon Payne (McKeesport, PA./McKeesport HS) has once again been the offensive leader in his senior season averaging just under 20 points per game. He finished with a team high 15 points in PSUGA's most recent loss to PSU-Mont Alto and has been over the 15 point mark in all but one game he has been in this Season.

Joining him on the offensive side of the ball has been Kenny Rouse (Duquesne, PA./West Mifflin HS). Rouse has been part of a nice 1-2 punch averaging just over 15 points a game himself. Rouse is also the team leader on the defensive side of the ball leading the team in both rebounds (50) and assists (27).

While a record of 1-3 in conference play doesn't look very good right now, there is still plenty of time for head coach Tyler Care's team to turn it around. Care says that he sees talent in this year's team they jusy have to "find a way to mesh" and bring it all together. With 16 conference games still remaining on the schedule, there is still plenty of time for the men's team to make a turn around and comeback better from Christmas break.

PSUGA will look to fix some things and get back on track in non-conference play when they face Villa Maria on Friday at 8 p.m. as part of the second half of a PSUGA Men's & Women's Basketball doubleheader.
