Golf Opens New Season at White Course Invitational

McKeesport, PA. – After six years of not having a golf program, Penn State Greater Allegheny will send its revitalized golf team to the White Course Invitational at University Park on Thursday at 10 a.m. Head Coach Tyler Care and his team are looking to put PSUGA back on the map as they compete against several PSUAC competitors.

The group of five PSUGA golfers consisting of Nickolas Kazousky (FR.), Kyle Williams (Trafford, PA./Penn-Trafford), David West (Hempfield, PA./Hempfield), Taylor Coccia (Elizabeth, PA./Elizabeth Forward), and Matt Givler (Coatesville, PA./Coatesville) will make the trip representing PSUGA in their first season since 2011.

The lone woman on this year’s team is Elizabeth Forward standout Taylor Coccia. Coccia lettered in golf all four years of her career with the Warriors while also being named a Scholar Athlete. She is hoping to be one of the top players in the Penn State University Athletic Conference helping PSUGA Golf succeed.

Sophomores Kyle Williams and Matt Givler will look to be leaders for the men’s half of PSUGA Golf. Givler has had a lot of success on the course in his career averaging a 72 for an 18 hole course. It is his first year playing varsity golf at any level, but he looks to take his talents from the amateur level to collegiate varsity play.

Williams competed on the golf team at Penn-Trafford for four years making the honor roll in each of those four seasons. Williams is also an avid golfer who is looking to take his talents to the PSUAC and help PSUGA Golf establish themselves as a true competitor in the conference.

The White Course Invitational begins at 10 a.m. and will be played at University Park in State College, PA.
