PSUGA Golf to Compete at Blue Course Invitational

McKeesport, PA. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Golf team is back in action on Monday when they travel to University Park, PA. to take part in the Blue Course Invitational at 11 a.m. It will be the third tournament of the season for the newly revived golf program as they try and continue to make their mark in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

Taylor Coccia (Elizabeth, PA./Elizabeth Forward HS) led the way the last time the golf team took the course posting a course score of 111 at the PSU-Fayette Invitational. The finish was good for 26th overall in the tournament and was the lowest mark among all female competitors at the tournament. Coccia is already a United States Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Golfer of the Week award winner and is having a fine freshman season at PSUGA.

Kyle Williams (Trafford, PA./Penn-Trafford HS) was the other golfer to take the course for PSUGA at the Fayette Invitational and finished 29th overall with a course score of 127. PSUGA did not place at the event because they only had two participants, but they were able to continue to improve in their revitalization year.

Head coach Tyler Care was proud of the way his golfers played the course and likes that they are continually getting better each time they take the course. The Blue Course Invitational will be the last tune-up for the PSUGA Golf team before they head into the PSUAC Championships on October 8th back at University Park. All of the PSUAC schools will be competing at the Blue Course Invitational giving PSUGA a chance to see how they measure up.

Tee time for the Blue Course Invitational is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on the blue course on the campus of Penn State University Main.
