Coccia Places 26th at Fayette Invitational

Uniontown, PA. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Golf Team competed in their second tournament of the season on Saturday when they travelled to the Penn State Fayette Invitational. Taylor Coccia (Elizabeth, PA./Elizabeth Forward HS) led the way finishing in 26th place overall with a course score of 111.

It was a hot and sunny day at Duck Hollow Golf Course in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and Coccia handled the heat well on the day. Despite finishing 26th overall in the tournament, her 111 score was the lowest time among the three women competitors beating out PSU-New Kensington’s Kensey Knapp and PSU-York’s Madison Montang.

Kyle Williams (Trafford, PA./Penn-Trafford HS) was the only other PSUGA golfer the make the trip finishing in 29th overall with a course score of 127 rounding out the day for PSUGA. Coccia and Williams have established themselves as two of the three top players for PSUGA golf this season as head coach Tyler Care and his team look to continue to keep improving every time they hit the course.

With only one more invitational before the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships on October 10th, the PSUGA Golf team has one more opportunity to prepare themselves for that championship invitational as they look to make a splash in their first season since 2011.

The PSUGA Golf team will be back in action on Monday September 24th when they travel to the Blue Course Invitational at University Park at 11 a.m.
