Kazousky leads the Way in First PSUGA Golf Match Since 2011

McKeesport, PA. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Golf team competed in their first tournament since 2011 on Thursday when they traveled to the White Course Invitational. The four participants finished in 9th place overall out of 11 teams with a combined score of 409 on the course.

Nicholas Kazousky (Freshman) led the way for PSUGA shooting an 83 through the 18-hole course. He shot four over par through the front nine, including three straight pars on holes five, six, and seven. Kazousky continued his success on the back nine shooting par on four of the nine holes as well as picking up three bogeys.

Taylor Coccia (Elizabeth, PA./Elizabeth Forward) followed Kazousky with a 107 on the day. She struggled early on, but found her confidence when she chipped one in from 40 feet away on the fifth hole picking up a Bogey. She finished the day with 1 par on hole 10 and six bogeys. David West (Hempfield, Pa./Hempfield) also finished with a 107 collecting two pars over the course.

Kyle Williams (Trafford, Pa./Penn-Trafford) rounded out the day for PSUGA shooting a 112 in his first outing of the year. Williams evened out scoring a 56 on both the front nine and back nine while picking up 1 par on the day.

Head Coach Tyler Care said it was fun for his team to get out on the course and compete against many of the other teams in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. PSUGA was able to beat out PSU-New Kensington and PSU-York and will look to continue to improve as they get more opportunities to get out on the course.

The PSUGA Golf team will continue to get some swings in during practice as they prepare for their next tournament on September 15th when they travel to Lamont Furnace, PA. to take part in the Penn State Fayette Invitational.
