New Kensington, PA. - The Penn State Greater Allegehmy Golf team saw drastic improvements in their scores at the PSU-New Kensington invitational. They finished in fifth place with a team score of 358 lowering their score by 72 points from there previous outing as the scores continue to improve.

One of the biggest improvements of the day was freshman Angie Nylander (Elizabeth, PA./Elizabeth Forward HS) who shot a career-low 101 on the course. After working hard on her short game over the week the extra work paid off lowering her score by 12 from the previous meet.

The outing dropped Angie's season average to 108.7 through four meets. Nylander sits just three strokes away from being the fourth qualifier for the 2019 Penn State University Athletic Conference/United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.

PSUGA's top qualifier, freshman Justin Wortman (Ashburn, VA./Briar Woods HS), led the day shooting an 86 on the par 72 course. It was also a rebound for Wortman, who shot a career worst 100 last time out. Wortman dropped his average back below the 85 stroke mark.

Wortman was one of three PSUGA golfers to finish at 90 strokes or below. Senior Bert Hinton (Richmond, VA./Benedictine College Prep) shot an 88 and freshman Sean Murphy (Churchill, PA./Woodland Hills HS) shot a 90. Freshman Alex Myers (Oswego, NY./Oswego HS) rounded out the day shooting a 123 rounding out the five golfers for PSUGA.
