The 2019-2020 season will be Mark Valko's first season as the head coach of the Penn State Greater Allegheny Golf team. He has over 20 years of golf coaching experience and he brings a love and knowledge of the game to the new program.

Prior to joining PSUGA, Valko was the head coach of another new program leading Penn State New Kensington during the 2018 season. During his time at PSU-New Kensington, he led two golfers to the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships and had one placing in the top 30 and one being named to the 2018-2019 United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic team with a cumulative GPA of 3.5.

Along with his duties at PSUGA, Valko is also a golf instructor at McDaines Golf Center in Monoreville, PA. and was the head golf instructor at Maple Crest Golf Course in Monroeville, where he became a certified first tee golf instructor. Valko's previous coaching experience also includes a stint as the head golf coach at Woodland Hills High School where he was the coach for over 10 seasons.

"I am very grateful to be the head golf coach at Penn State Greater Allegheny," Valko said. "I look forward to the challenge of growing the program and enhancing the college experience for each student athlete."

In his free time, Valko enjoys spending time with his wife Janine and children Scott, Alexis, Jenna, and Nick. He loves to travel on vacation especially to the golf capital of the world - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
