McKeesport, Pa. - Despite hard-work on all sides of the ball, the #4 Penn State Greater Allegheny men's soccer team fell to #1 Penn State Brandywine, Saturday afternoon, 3-2.

Greater Allegheny was first to strike in the 22nd minute, as senior midfielder Gerardo Diaz-Perez (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico/Immaculate Conception Academy) found junior forward Marin Marina (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) amongst the confusion in front of the net, beating the goalie and going up 1-0.

Just under three minutes later, an excellent pass led to a hammer of a shot by BW's Bill Walleekendeh, tie game one all.

With just five seconds left in the first half, a header into the back of the net resulted in a Brandywine 2-1 lead at halftime.

Diaz-Perez drew quickly in the second half, as he played the defense and found the mesh, tying the game at two.

Both teams continued to work as Brandywine drew next in the 68th mine, 3-2 visiting team.

Time was not on Greater Allegheny's side, as regulation expired in the #1 seed favor, keeping their Penn State University Athletic Conference record at a perfect 7-0.

Freshman goalkeeper Prakash Wagley (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) faced seven shots on goal, stopping four. 

Marina generated seven shots, four being on target, as Diaz-Perez, sophomore defender Belmo Nurkic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and junior midfielder Nick Andrews (Penn Hills, Pa./Serra Catholic) each ripped two.

As a team, Brandywine outshot Greater Allegheny, 19-13.

Greater Allegheny (6-3-2, 4-2-1 PSUAC) looks forward to hosting Penn State Beaver, Wednesday, October 19th. Game-time is set for 5 p.m.
