Soccer Gets Win on Forfeit

McKeesport, Pa. – The #11 Penn State Greater Allegheny Soccer Team (8-3, 6-2) picked up another win on Wednesday even though they did not participate in a match. The game that was scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. has been forfeited by Penn State Wilkes-Barre resulting in a PSUGA victory.

PSUGA currently sits in second place in the Penn State University Athletic Conference standings right behind Penn State Brandywine who sits at 7-0 in conference and 11-3 overall. There is still a chance for PSUGA to capture the number two seed, however, with the loss to Penn State Beaver on Tuesday it is looking more like PSUGA will slip into the number three seed and host in the first round of the PSUAC playoffs.

PSU-Brandywine has locked themselves into the number one seed and currently, Penn State Beaver would be slated into the number two seed due to their perfect conference record and their head-to-head victory over PSUGA.

The format for this year’s PSUAC playoffs looks like this:

            October 28th 2017: #3 seed hosts #6 seed

                                         #4 seed hosts #5 seed

            October 30th 2017: #1 seed hosts winner of #4 and #5 seed

#2 seed hosts winner of #3 and #6 seed

November 1st 2017: PSUAC Championship will be played at University Park

Location: West Campus Turf Field @ 6 p.m.

PSUGA will be back in action this Sunday when they play their final regular season game facing off against Penn State Worthington Scranton at 1 p.m. All seniors and 2+2 player will be honored before the game for their time at Penn State Greater Allegheny.
