PSUGA Soccer dominates in Season Opening Win

McKeesport, PA. - The PSUGA Soccer team (1-1, 0-0) picked up their season opening win over Southern State CC 15-1. They picked up 11 goals in the first half on their way to the victory.

They broke the program record for goals in a game finishing with 15 and Senior Nic Babic (Pittsburgh, PA./Baldwin HS) tied the program record for goals in a game with 5. Southern State played with eight players in the game allowing some more offensive opportunities for PSUGA.

PSUGA led at halftime 11-1 and had two players with hat tricks as Babic and Belmo Nurkic (Pittsburgh, PA./Baldwin HS). Nurkic finished the day with 7 assists breaking the old school record.

Many of the PSUGA Freshman got in on the action scoring their first goal of the season. Namy Makiese (Pittsburgh, PA.), Chris Rossi (Elizabeth, NJ), Raghu Chimoriya (Pittsburgh, PA.), and Dario Marina (Pittsburgh, PA.) Were among the players to score their first career goal.

After not experiencing any offensive opportunities against Point Park on Wednesday, PSUGA came out and found their chances tonight. As they get ready to start conference play on Wednesday, they will look to keep the offense going as they make their fifth straight run at the Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs.

The PSUGA Soccer team opens the PSUAC half of their season when they take on PSU-New Kensington at 4 p.m.
