Soccer Takes First PSUAC Loss of the Year vs. Brandywine

McKeesport, PA. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Soccer Team (4-2, 2-1) dropped their first Penn State University Athletic Conference game of the season on Sunday falling to PSU-Brandywine (5-2-2, 3-0). PSUGA’s defense put up a valiant effort, but it wasn’t enough to stop Brandywine’s high potent offense.

Brandywine would take the lead just 2:45 into the game when Daniel Willie connected in the bottom right corner of the net giving his team a 1-0 lead. Willie was right back at it just seven minutes later taking a rebound off the top post and putting it in the net for his second goal of the day. The offense came as part of a four goal first half that sent the teams int halftime with Brandywine leading 4-0.

Goalkeeper Colin Bucsok (Pittsburgh, PA./Thomas Jefferson) had to leave the game for a while in the early part of the first half after taking a cleat off his head. Belmo Nurkic (Pittsburgh, PA./Baldwin HS) stepped in and had a great effort in net making 11 saves during his 31 minutes in net and allowing three goals. Bucsok would step back in with 7:51 left on the first half clock and was able to remain in the game the rest of the way.

PSUGA found some offensive opportunities in the second half when Raghu Chimoriya (Pittsburgh, PA./Ellis Academy) got off three shots, two on goal, but none of them found the back of the net. PSUGA had five total shots in the second half with Yam Bista (Pittsburgh, PA.) and Dario Marina (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin HS) each adding a shot, but Brandywine put up three more second half goals and picked up the 7-0 victory.

Chimoriya led the offense with his three shots and Marina, Bista, and Subba each added a shot on the day. Bucsok put up a good fight in net making 12 saves in his 58 minutes in net. Bucsok picked up the loss on the day and still needs just one more win to become the winningest goalie in PSUGA Men’s Soccer program history.
