PSUGA Trying to Get Back in Win Column vs. WCCC

McKeesport, PA. - After falling in each of their first two games of the season, the Penn State Greater Allegheny soccer team is looking to bounce back when they take on Westmoreland County CC Monday at 4 p.m. Despite going 0-2 to this point in the season, PSUGA has shown many positives that will help them be successful this season.

Last time out, it was a tale of two halves as PSUGA fell to Johnson & Wales 9-0. In the first half, PSUGA held the defending United States Collegiate Athletic Association runner-ups to just three goals and went into halftime trailing 3-0.

Freshman Hunter Huber (West Mifflin, PA./West Mifflin HS) got his first collegiate start in goal and made eight of his 13 saves in the first half. He faced 11 shots in the first half and got plenty of help from his defense as they were able to keep the ball out of the Johnson & Wales offensive zone.

However, once the second half hit, the Wildcats found their groove and tallied five second half goals to run away with a 9-0 win. The second half saw PSUGA unable to get anything going and it caused J&W to have many scoring opportunities.

PSUGA was led on offense by Junior Ronnie Caldro (Pittsburgh, PA.) Who had two shots, one on goal, and senior Dario Marina (Pittsburgh, PA./Baldwin HS) added one shot of his own on goal. PSUGA is still looking for more offensive chances as they approach conference play.

Westmoreland County CC enters Monday's game sitting at 1-1 on the season and coming off of an 8-1 loss at the hands of Potomac State College. Michael Stanley scored the lone goal for the Wolfpack scoring in the 83rd minute and ending the game on a positive note.
