Soccer Falls in Overtime Matchup with Lehigh Valley

Allentown, PA. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny Soccer team (1-3-1, 0-1-1) battled into overtime on Saturday but fell to PSU Lehigh Valley 1-0. Injuries forced PSUGA TO play a man down throughout the final minutes of the game leading to the hard fought loss.

Both defenses were playing tight throughout the day as the score sat at 0-0 at the end of regulation. They went to the first overtime period and PSU-Lehigh Valley would score the only goal of the game in the 91st minute when Mohamed Abdalla took a pass from Creyn Muthard for the winning score.

PSUGA was forced to play on the defensive for most of the game. They were outshot 10-2 in the first half and didn't get a shot off in the second half or overtime. After having their offense going on the rise the last couple games, PSUGA did not see as many offensice opportunities throughout the evening.

Senior Dario Marina (Pittsburgh, PA./Baldwin HS) and sophomore Namy Makiese (Pittsburgh, PA./Allderdice HS) led the offense getting off one shot a piece with both shots going on net. 

Leading the defense was junior Goalkeeper Colin Bucsok (Pittsburgh, PA./Thomas Jefferson HS) played his best game of the season making 10 saves on 11 shots on goal playing 91:56 in net. The 10 saves were the most he has made in a game this season and moved him to 193 career saves in just 29 career games played.

The loss dropped PSUGA to 0-1-1 in conference play and drops them down to 9th place in the Penn State University Athletic Conference standings. PSUGA is trying to get back to the PSUAC playoffs for the sixth straight year and look to get back in the win column to climb the conference standings.

The PSUGA Soccer team continues its PSUAC weekend trip when they take on PSU-Scranton on Sunday at 12 p.m.
