Soccer Cancels Matches Against WCCC and Carlow

McKeesport, Pa. – The Penn State Greater Allegheny Soccer team (1-4-1, 0-2-1) was forced to make some changes to their upcoming game schedule after dropping each of their last two games and suffering some key injuries. Tuesday’s home game against Westmoreland County Community College and Saturday’s away game against Carlow University have both been canceled with no makeup date announced at this time.

The PSUGA soccer team suffered losses at the hands of both Penn State Lehigh Valley and Penn State Scranton this weekend dropping their Penn State University Athletic Conference record to 0-2-1. Despite battling throughout the night, PSUGA had to play with less than 11 players in both matches and they did not have enough to overcome the obstacles leading to both losses.

One positive note was the play of junior goalkeeper Colin Bucsok (Pittsburgh, PA./Thomas Jefferson HS). Bucsok recorded 27 saves on 34 shots on goal this weekend playing a combined 181:56 in goal. His biggest game came against Penn State Scranton on Sunday, when he recorded 17 saves in a 6-0 loss, falling just two saves shy of the single-game record set back in 2013.

The schedule changes give the PSUGA Soccer team a week and a half to rest and recover before they head back to PSUAC play on Tuesday, October 1st. With six conference games left to be played, there is still time for PSUGA to bounce back and turn things around in 2019. The rest will allow some of their key players to get healthy as they head down the final stretch of the 2019 season.

The PSUGA Soccer team will return to action on Tuesday, October 1st, when they take on rival Penn State Beaver at 3:15 p.m. The game will be played at Breisinger Field in Pleasant Hills, PA. located at 410 East Bruceton Rd., Pittsburgh, PA.
