Manfredi's Big Day Leads PSUGA at Kent State Tune-up

The Penn State Greater Allegheny Track & Field team had a big showing at their first ever meet when they competed at the Kent State Tune-up on Saturday at Kent State University. Freshman Davin Manfredi (Pleasant Hills, PA./Thomas Jefferson) set the pace on the day and gave PSUGA a positive to look forward to as they head through the season.

Manfredi was one of five PSUGA runners competed in the 60 meter dash which was seperated into 11 different heats. Manfredi won his heat defeating eight other runners with a time of 7.55 seconds. Manfredi finished 60th overall at the event pacing the PSUGA runners on the afternoon.

James Pled (Philadelphia, PA./Northeast HS) and Chris Clinton (Pittsburgh, PA./Allderdice) also placed for the men finishing 73rd and 76th respectively with times of 7.72 and 8.08. PSUGA 

Manfredi continued his strong day in the 200 meter dash placing 65th overall with a time of 24.97 to again lead PSUGA. The four competitors made their mark in the meet competing against all three levels of the NCAA.

On the women's side, PSUGA's lone competior was Sophomore Eladia Kennedy (Pittsburgh, PA./Imani Christian Academy) who competed in both the 60 meter and the 200 meter dash. She finished 70th overall in the 60.meter with a time of 9.04 and finished 74th overall with a time of 29.93

The PSUGA Track & Field team made a big impact in their first ever meet. Head coach Greg Schmitt was pleased with his team's performance and sees a lot that they can use to keep improving as the season moves forward.

The PSUGA Track and field team gets back in action when they kick off their outdoor season on March 23rd when they head to the California University of PA Early Bird Invitational on March 23rd at 11 a.m.
