Softball Loses Two Conference Double-Headers

Uniontown, Pa- The Penn State Greater Allegheny softball team continued its tough stretch by dropping a pair of conference double-headers.  They were swept 8-0 and 5-3 by Penn State Hazleton, then by Penn Fayette 11-2 and 7-4.

  GA would take early leads in both game against Fayette, scoring two first inning runs on a 2-RBI from freshman Colleen Kuplast (Cranston East, RI), in game 1.  Kuplast would finish the game going 2-2, while sophomore Sam Segiel (Norwin, PA) and freshman Taylor McCallister (Norwin, PA) both went 2-3 with a run scored.

  Greater Allegheny followed suit in game 2, this time scoring three runs in the first.  Colleen Kupalst singled home Segiel to plate the first run.  Freshman Kristen Popp (McKeesport, PA) then drew a bases-loaded walk, forcing in another run.  Freshman Kelli Hall (McKeesport, PA) would score the third run, on a fielder's choice off the bat of sophomore Kaitlyn Kirkpartrick (Elizabeth Forward, PA). Kuplast finished the game going 3-4 with 2 RBI's, while Sam Segiel and Taylor McCallister each collected 2 hits and scored a run.

  The double-header sweeps drop Greater Allegheny's record to 1-13 overall and 1-9 in the PSUAC.  Next on the schedule, a 2 PM double-header at Penn State Beaver.
