GA Softball Manage Five Runs in Two Mont Alto Losses

Mont Alto, Pa. - The Penn State Greater Allegheny women's softball team earn five runs in a Penn State University Athletic Conference match-up over Penn State Mont Alto on Sunday, dropping two by the scores of 3-1 and 12-4.

Mont Alto tallied a run in both the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning of game one. The bottom of the sixth saw a run scored from Greater Allegheny from sophomore infielder Ashley Lowenstein (San Jose, Calif./Presentation). Mont Alto added the final tally of the game in the bottom of the inning, taking Mont Alto ahead of GA, 3-1.

Freshman catcher Kasey Dansak (McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport) went 2-for-3 at the plate in game one, as Lowenstein posted a double alongside a run scored. Both Lowenstein and freshman outfielder Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md./Friendly) went 1-for-2 at the plate.

Mont Alto was first on the board in game two with a homer, before Brisbon singled, stole second and scored in the top of the second. The home team tacked on six more runs through two innings, leading Greater Allegheny 7-1. Dansak doubled to obtain 3 RBI's off of freshman outfielder Marina Rinaldi (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia High School for Girls), senior infielder Casey Naylor (Glassport, Pa./South Allegheny) and senior outfielder Sam Segiel (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin).

Mont Alto dropped five more runs in the bottom of the fifth, advancing their lead on Greater Allegheny 12-4. Dansak went 2-for-3 at the plate, hitting a double as well as batting in three runners. 

Greater Allegheny looks onward to Wednesday, as Westmoreland County Community College comes to Woodland Hills for a double-header. First pitch of game one is set for 3 p.m.
