Lautner Named 2nd Team USCAA All-American After Career Year

DuBois, Pa. – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association announced their All-Americans list at the 2018 USCAA Small College World Series Banquet on Sunday. Penn State Greater Allegheny Softball Player Lacie Lautner (Pleasant Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) was one of the players honored earning 2nd team All-American Honors.

Lautner had a career year for the PSUGA Softball Team helping lead them to their second PSUAC Playoff appearance in the last 17 seasons. She also broke the all-time win record at PSUGA finishing with 19 wins over her two-year career and a career high 11 in her senior season. She finished the year with an 11-3 record and a 3.18 ERA over 83.2 innings of work while walking 11 and striking out 80.

Her biggest performance came against Penn State Fayette on April 12th as she looked to help keep her team’s season long six-game winning streak alive. She would deliver turning in a career high 13 strikeout performance and giving up just two earned runs in what would be a 7-3 victory. Lautner would finish out her PSUGA career pitching in the first-round playoff game against PSU-Beaver giving up four earned runs in six innings of work in the loss.

Lautner set career highs in wins (11), innings pitched (83.2), and appearances (15) throughout the course of the season while being the top pitcher on the team. While she was impressing on the mound, she also impressed at the plate leading the team in all major offensive categories hitting .403 with three home runs and 33 RBI.

All three of her home runs came in one game against PSU-New Kensington on April 20th in a game that helped PSUGA clinch their PSUAC Playoff Spot. Lautner set career highs in all three of the major offensive categories and was a force to be reckoned with in the middle of the PSUGA lineup all season long.

Lautner has been recognized as a USCAA All-American in each of her two years with PSUGA and has been the driving force to the growth of the program over the last two years. She was part of the upstart of the program by head coach Victoria Blosser and has helped the program not only in her personal performance but helping the younger players learn the ropes and get them ready to succeed after she leaves.
